Passport to Careers

November 5, 2025 – 9:00 a.m. ̶ 1:00 p.m.

Passport to IT Careers is Northeast Ohio’s premiere youth talent event and a signature program of a regional portfolio of offerings available to local high schools.

The program, celebrating its 12th anniversary in November 2025, is an expanded event that builds on the success of Passport to IT Careers by now including Finance career pathways alongside IT/Tech.

A one-day intensive program where students rotate through a series of interactive experiences including speed networking with IT professionals from a wide array of companies, researching and interviewing college and university reps to learn about regional educational options, and exploring NEO/local employment opportunities. Passport to IT Careers happens as part of the GCP’s All In for Tech Day and will be held at the Renaissance Downtown Cleveland.

Capture the Flag

Thursday, October 16, 2025 – Tuesday, October 21, 2025

Looking for a hands-on Challenge to introduce cyber? Join us virtually for Capture the Flag! Use your own computer and tools! Teams of up to 4 students will attack systems and solve cybersecurity, networking and programming challenges! Schools can enter multiple teams, no maximum on total teams participating. Teams will have a total of 2 hours to capture as many flags as they can.

Note – Once you team starts the clock they cannot pause. So the commitment must be a consecutive 2-hour time frame over the course of the competition dates.

Teams will be graded on score and time (time will be looked at should there be a tie).

Discover IT & Discover Finance

Monday, September 29 – Friday, October 17, 2025

Discover IT is a new activity for students to demonstrate their understanding of Information Technology roles and functional areas, the requirements for success in IT careers, and the education they will need to pursuit a career in IT.

Discover Finance is an interactive classroom activity that introduces students to career opportunities in the world of financial services, focusing on four key sectors: Banking, Insurance, Accounting, and Securities & Investments. Students research careers and create an engaging infographic that showcases their findings. Designed for all high school students, this activity helps them explore Financial Services careers, education paths leading into financial services, and the Northeast Ohio companies where they can work.Discover IT is an engaging classroom activity that introduces students to the exciting world of information technology careers. In this activity, each student creates their own Discover IT visualizer, showcasing what they’ve learned about IT jobs. The program is designed for all high school students, whether they’re tech novices or already have some experience in IT and tech programs.

This IT Career Conversation focused on Youth Opportunities Unlimited’s (Y.O.U.) High School internship programs. Y.O.U. has several summer internship opportunities including the High School Tech Internship Program, which provides students with internships in technology roles, including artificial intelligence (AI), software development, data, and IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, broadband/5G, and other tech-focused fields.

The Capture the Flag Awards Ceremony

The GCP Early Career Exploration Program team would like your students to join the Capture the Flag Competition. Last year there were 86 teams from 10 schools that participated. High School students had the opportunity to work through hands-on challenges as teams to find the hidden flags.

Students who participate in the Capture the Flag competition will have the opportunity to compete with other schools and the teams with the most points wins a prize.

Work Session – Ohio Learning Standards for Technology (K-12)

The Greater Cleveland Partnership is convening a workgroup of industry professionals to review and provide feedback to the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce on the revision of their K-12 Technology Standards.  These standards haven’t been updated since 2017 and need input from Northeast Ohio employers to ensure that students are graduating ready with future proof technology skills.

Please join us on Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 3:00 – 4:30 at GCP for a work session to develop a set of recommendations on how the Technology Standards can be modified to create the next generation of a technology literate workforce.    The results of the work session will be compiled and submitted as part of the ODEW’s public comment survey.
