Work Session – Ohio Learning Standards for Technology (K-12)

The Greater Cleveland Partnership is convening a workgroup of industry professionals to review and provide feedback to the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce on the revision of their K-12 Technology Standards.  These standards haven’t been updated since 2017 and need input from Northeast Ohio employers to ensure that students are graduating ready with future proof technology skills.

Please join us on Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 3:00 – 4:30 at GCP for a work session to develop a set of recommendations on how the Technology Standards can be modified to create the next generation of a technology literate workforce.    The results of the work session will be compiled and submitted as part of the ODEW’s public comment survey.

Passport to IT Careers 2024

Wednesday, November 13, 2024 9am - 1pm at the IX Center

Passport to IT Careers is Northeast Ohio’s premiere youth IT talent event and a signature program of a regional portfolio of offerings available to local high schools.

The program, celebrating its 10th anniversary in October 2023, is a half-day career expo where over 700 high school students explore educational options, job opportunities, in their hometown to determine what it could mean for them to launch an IT career in Northeast Ohio.

Discover IT

April 15, 2024 - April 30, 2024

Discover IT is a new activity for students to demonstrate their understanding of Information Technology roles and functional areas, the requirements for success in IT careers, and the education they will need to pursuit a career in IT.

Discover IT is a new activity for students to demonstrate their understanding of Information Technology roles and functional areas, the requirements for success in IT careers, and the education they will need to pursuit a career in IT. Students will work individually or in teams to create a unique representation of their understanding of the Discover IT knowledge assets website. The activity is designed for all levels of high school students with or without experience in IT/tech programs. Teachers/educators will be provided with a variety of strategies to facilitate the activity based on their student’s familiarity with IT careers. Also, any teacher/educator can facilitate Discover IT, no IT knowledge is required. Students completing the Discover IT will have the opportunity to submit their completed activity to win their class prizes.

The Capture the Flag Awards Ceremony

The GCP Tech Talent Program team would like to thank all of the schools that participated in our Cyber Combo Program! Our Cybersecurity Career Conversation went very well, and we had 86 teams from 10 schools participate in the Capture the Flag Competition.

Students were able to engage with Cybersecurity experts from companies like KeyBank, Sherwin Williams, and ASGMI. Students who participated in the Capture the Flag competition had the opportunity to compete with other schools and catch as many flags as they can on a website with many different challenges.

Monday, October 23 through Thursday, October 26, 2023

Looking for a hands-on Challenge to introduce cyber? Join us virtually for Capture the Flag! Use your own computer and tools! Teams of up to 4 students will attack systems and solve cybersecurity, networking and programming challenges! Schools can enter multiple teams, no maximum on total teams participating. Teams will have a total of 2 hours to capture as many flags as they can.

Note – Once you team starts the clock they cannot pause, so the commitment must be a consecutive 2-hour time frame over the course of the competition dates.

Teams will be graded on score and time (time will be looked at should there be a tie).
